Śrī Sūkta, also known as Śrī Sūktam, is a revered Sanskrit devotional hymn comprising a series of shlokas dedicated to Śrī, the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fertility, commonly identified with Lakṣmī. The recitation of Śrī Sūkta is traditionally approached with meticulous attention to Chandas, the rhythmic structure of the verses, to invoke the goddess's blessings. These hymns are preserved in the khilanis of the Rig Veda, which are considered appendices that likely predate Buddhist influences.

The significance of Śrī Sūktam is amplified by the association of Śrī Mahālakṣmī with Lord Śrī Venkaṭeśvara at Tirumala and with Viṣṇu, whose presence is symbolically represented in the heart. Lakṣmī embodies the essence of love, serving as a conduit for devotion to God, or Bhakti. Through this love, described as Bhakti or Lakṣmī, the Ātmā—our soul—is believed to attain unity with God or Viṣṇu.

Furthermore, Śrī or Lakṣmī symbolizes the spiritual energy within both individuals and the cosmos known as kuṇḍalinī. She embodies the Spiritual World or Vaikuṇtha—the realm of Lakṣmī-Nārāyaṇa (Viṣṇu)—which should not be conflated with Heaven, as the Heavenly Planets still belong to the material realm. In contrast, Vaikuṇtha-Dham is characterized as entirely spiritual, eternal, and self-illuminating. Lakṣmī is viewed as possessing divine qualities that resonate both with God and the soul. Her role as God's superior spiritual feminine energy, or Param Prākṛti, serves to purify, empower, and uplift individuals; thus she is rightly honored as the Goddess of Fortune.
